Roubaix Bikes: perfect for this type of thing. I would say the Roubaix is the perfect touring bike due to its compliance, all-day comfort and speed.
Luggage: For this tour I ran 4 bags. Restrap saddle harness bag, frame and top tube bag and Specialized front bar bag. Durable and not too heavy. Basically had everything I wanted. Maybe downtube bag with shoes next time. Boys rocking really big front bags and Jack the Racks to hold all the weight.
Mondo Tires: great choice for as a fast endurance tire. they are more on the speed side than puncture resistance. 35mm rear / 32mm front. We had 4 flats, between 3 bikes, all metal pin like objects. Should have been tubeless.
Cold Weather Gear: I went with Lululemon due to comfort and dual purpose nature of gear plus some Gore over trousers and 7mesh cycling tights. Lulu rain jacket plus Lulu ripstop PrimaLoft jacket and some base layers. Some Castelli gloves and a few pairs of Specialized thick wall socks with light overshoes kept my hands and feet happy. Comfortable for minus 5 downhills.
GPS Navigation: Testing the Coros Dura and with backup of Coros watch. No issues and easy with maps and great battery life. Planing on RidewithGPS with some checks on Strava heat maps.
Security: We got SOS International evacuation insurance and I have AIA emergency medical insurance. I also brought a Garmin Inreach Messenger but we had cell coverage nearly all the time so not really needed.
Otherwise: suncream, creams, 1 set off bike, 1 extra bibs / bike, basic tools, extra rear derailleur hanger and extra tire incase. Thanks Peter for being Sherpa and taking all the heavy stuff 🙂
